How to take it, step by step

  1. 1

    Buy and do the course

Register on smartserve.ca and buy the Full Course ($44.95). It’s self-paced, about four hours, and you can stop and start. The final test unlocks at the end.

  2. 2

    Set up your space

Good lighting, nobody else in the room, no distractions. Close other tabs and any app using your camera. Have your photo ID ready.

  3. 3

    Verify your identity

You take a photo of yourself and then of your ID, and allow camera, microphone and screen sharing.

  4. 4

Write the test in one go

About 30 minutes. Stay in camera view the whole time. Leaving the test or the camera view forfeits that attempt.

  5. 5

    Wait for the review

Your session gets an integrity check. Pass with no issues and your eCertificate appears under “My Results” in your account.

Rules that can fail you even if you know the answers

  • No one may help you, and you can’t talk to anyone during the test.
  • AI tools are prohibited. Turn them off for the whole test.
  • Don’t wear a face mask or covering where masks aren’t required.
  • Breaking a rule means a FAILED session, and Smart Serve says you then have to buy and complete the whole course again.

What about “Smart Serve test answers”?

We don’t publish answers to the real test, and you should be wary of anyone who claims to. The questions are randomly generated from the official course, so a list of “answers” won’t match what you see, and using outside help during the proctored test breaks the rules. What actually works is knowing the rules the questions are built on.

If you don’t pass

Each purchase includes two attempts. If the first doesn’t go well, review the sections you struggled with before using the second. Smart Serve doesn’t list a separate retake fee on its public pages; if you’ve used both attempts, contact Smart Serve Ontario (416-695-8737 or 1-877-620-6082) about your options.
